Bethany House is a shelter offering temporary housing to women and children in transition, operating in the tradition of the Catholic Worker. Each Wednesday Bethany House has both a prayer service/Mass followed by a dinner with the guests. We are looking for groups willing to purchase food for dinner (for about 10-20 people), prepare the meal, pray with the guests and stay to enjoy the meal. Depending on how long it takes for meal prep, the time commitment is from 4:30 or 5pm until everyone has eaten – usually about 7pm. Prayer is at 5:30pm and dinner is served at 6pm.

If you are interested in helping in any way or want more information, please contact the Bethany House chaplain, Sr. Karen Dietz, SSJ at [email protected] or 585-813-5072. You can also click here.

Rochester Catholic Schools offer numerous volunteering opportunities. Each school has a unique need of volunteers from lunch moderators, helping with book fairs, assisting with field trips to light office duties. Please inquire with an individual school on their volunteer needs. Volunteers must complete the Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training. For more information, click here.
