The God is Love program is designed for use with students in kindergarten or first grade. The program helps students discover an appreciation that God created, cares for, and loves us all.

  • God is Love is a bilingual activity series developed to complement the catechetical efforts of the parish and families with children in kindergarten and first grade. The program helps children explore a wide range of activities to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of a family, a parish and the Catholic Church. The three chapters cover:
    • GOD LOVES ALL THINGS: Appreciating that God created, cares and loves us all.
    • GOD LOVES ME: To develop awareness that each of them is special, unique, and loved by God.
    • I LOVE OTHERS: To help them understand that God made them to share his love with others.
  • Children in grades K-1 who are enrolled in Girl Scouts.
  • Each Girl Scout have her own God is Love book and a children’s bible.
  • The book is designed for the Girl Scout and her parent(s) or group leader to work together.
  • Diocesan and Girl Scout Youth Protection policies must be followed.
  • Emblem Books may be obtained by contacting [email protected] at the Diocese of Rochester.
  • Although the book could be completed in four to six hours, the goal of earning a religious emblem is to help the Girl Scout develop a personal relationship with God, so it is suggested that steps be spread over several weeks. This will help the Girl Scout understand that this is a long-term commitment, not a one-time project.
  • Actively work on the activities with her parent(s) or group leader.
  • Keep the Religious Emblems Coordinator (Pastor, Youth Minister, or Faith Formation Director) informed of her progress.
  • Actively work on the activities with their scout. She may need your help with Bible readings and getting information.
  • Keep the Religious Emblems Coordinator (Pastor, Youth Minster, or Faith Formation Director) informed of their progress.
  • The leader’s guide is contained within the youth workbook.
  • When a Girl Scout completes all steps, she is to present the book to her parish priest or the priest’s representative and the book is reviewed with the Girl Scout.
  • After the pastor or his representative signs the book and the application form, only the application form, order form and check are sent to:
