Roc the youth

“To always be united with Jesus, that is my plan of life.” ~ St. Carlo Acutis

ROC the Youth is a youth-led project supported by the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis to start or re-start youth ministries across the Diocese of Rochester. Roc the Youth is a multi-faceted project that includes assessment of the current youth ministry landscape in the Diocese, the sharing of helpful resources, and providing support to current/potential youth ministry leaders through individual consultation. The project was started by a high school senior in the Diocese of Rochester, who discerned a need to strengthen youth engagement in the life of the church within the diocese after serving on the the National Youth Advisory Council (NYAC).

The National Youth Advisory Council is a diverse group of young people that integrate their voices and gifts into all work and ministry of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) as well as their home dioceses. The council will be comprised of up to 14 young people and 4 adults, including Project Chair, plus 2 ex-officio (Strategy Leader and NFCYM staff liaison). • Participate in the assessment portion of Roc the Youth by completing a brief survey. The survey can be found by clicking the button below. The responses will help identify which parishes have active youth ministries, which could use support, and what types of resources or guidance would be most helpful. We kindly ask that only the pastor, catechetical leader, or other parish staff member complete this survey. Those that represent multiple parishes, please submit a separate survey form for each parish.
  • Invite Roc the Youth creator and/or Project Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult ministry to speak at a parish council meeting, weekend Mass, youth ministry gathering, or other parish gathering.
